Let's Plays and Reviews
My First Impressions for Dream Daddy are MOSTLY positive
Dream Daddy: A Daddy Dating Simulator is well-known and loved for its concept of dating, hot, single, domestic dads and raising a fun-loving teenage daughter. After over three hours of playing, I finally think I have proper grasp of the game to give my first impressions.
Dream Daddy is a pretty decent game, with only a few things that you'll notice off. But as you all might know by now, I am a sucker for good story writing. The game isn't abysmally unplayable because of its drawbacks, and a few mechanics suit me just fine. In fact, one could say that its pros outweigh the cons.
So here, I'd like to discuss why the game left me with such a wonderful taste in my mouth. Okay, that was a very gross way to put it. But let's get started. Graphics
The graphics are superb, to say the least. Well-animated portraits and sprites, graphic OPTIONS, and even smooth animation. It makes for an impressive dating sim. Many dating sims feel more static. But the little nuances in the characters and designs give the game so much more depth.
I have ONE GRIPE, however. The main character. Our "DADDY". I wish they offered something less cartoony and more fitting with the rest of the world. As much as this could be how the character perceives themselves, I'd possibly prefer it another way. That or make the character pre-made so that there would be more gorgeous hand-drawn scenes with them and their chosen daddies, rated R content or no. I mean, without seeing the ending of a playthrough (YET), I wonder how even a sweet kiss would go. Though this tactic does call for fanart and stuff, so it's a good marketing strategy. Still, minus points for that. Story / Writing
Good grammar, clever writing and caricature, a witty but also corny sense of humor, this game hit me in all the right spots and I am a slave for it. The game is so good that I can forgive the very few errors I spotted. Each character feels like their own, too, after meeting them just once or twice throughout my playthrough (so far).
I have to commend it so much for the writing. It balances Daddy Love Interests with the daughter dilemma so well. And it just feels so natural, the way it's written. So... human. Gameplay
The game came with multiple mini-games and gags, nods to different subcultures and genres, references, and so much more. With my paltry system, it lags from time to time, but they still run well enough and these come with their own special little charm. It gives the game a fresh feel and something else to do besides making choices.
OVERALL SCORE: 9/10
The game in itself is well-done, with a few downsides that can be easily fixed with patch updates. Though not without its flaws, Dream Daddy: A Daddy Dating Simulator is a worthwhile adventure that will hit you with feels from all sides. Happy feels, sad feels, AWWW feels, and so many feelings! You didn't know you had so many feelings until you played this game!
SUpport Dream Daddy!
